Using digital voice with existing telephones

Using digital voice with existing telephones

My house has telephones throughout - several, of different vintages.  I just got Xfinity digital voice and was told I could keep my old phones.  But the self-installation kit for the gateway (SMCD3GNV) only tells me to plug one phone into the "Tel 1" port.  That works, but what about the rest of my phones?  How do I get the signal to them?  Does it have something to do with the "Tel 2" port?  I can't find any description of that.

Re: Using digital voice with existing telephones

Thanks!  I think that is the answer, and will give it a try.  At least it is consistent with what an "non-techy" at Comcast technical support tried to convince me of, but she could/would not tell me just to disconnect the outside line at the box.

'Still curious what that second "Tel 2" port is for.  I tried plugging a phone in there and got no signal.

The 2nd port is for a second line. Smiley Wink
