Using Voicemail on the phone

I am able to look at my voicemail on the Internet, but I don't know how to access it on the telephone.  I press *99 and then it asks for my passcode.  I'm not aware of ever having had a passcode for voicemail.  I tried my XFINITY password, but that doesn't work.  Needless to say I don't know what my PIN is, either.
