Unable to hear caller

New Poster

Unable to hear caller

We have both cordless and phones with cords throughout the house.   All have worked fine for years.  Yesterday when anyone calls, the caller can hear my voice but I cannot hear their voice.  I have tried disconnecting the main base unit for the cordless phones and reconnecting it but that has not helped.  Suggestions?

Re: Unable to hear caller

First step is to press the eMTA telephony modem reset button for a few seconds to reset the eMTA.  There is a small indented button on the back panel.

If that doesn't work, then try a known good wired phone connected directly to the L1/L2 jack on the eMTA, and test it with the wired phone.

If it works with the wired phone, then it is your equipment.

If it still doesn't work connected directly to the eMTA, then contact Comcast support so they can get it fixed.

Re: Unable to hear caller

I don't know what "telephony modem set" you are talking about.  There isn't a reset button on the phone base - are you talking about the wireless router to the computer?

Re: Unable to hear caller

FYI - I did just try connecting a wired phone into the main jack and it didn't work either.

Re: Unable to hear caller

Did you find and press the indented reset button on the eMTA telephony modem?  You will need a toothpick or some kind of poker to press it.  It should be on the back panel where the cables attach.

Otherwise contact Comcast support for help.
