My phone says there is one new voicemail, but I have erased all messages but that message "There is one new voicemail"  remains on my phone.

You can also check your VMs online by logging into your account online and going to https://vm.connect.comcast.net/  

You must be logged in for the above link to work correctly.

 

Doesn't hurt to have a second way of doing things!
