Telephone service through computer

Telephone service through computer

I have Comcast telphone service that works through the computer. I do not use Comcast's voicemail.

A number of friends have asked me, "Didn't you get my message?" on the phone answering machine. "No, I didn't".  The machine isn't registering these calls. The telphone itself is a new AT&T model and it's highly unlikely that the problem is in the telephone itself--since many calls ARE

recorded. 

 

What is the problem and how can it be repaired?

A couple of things come to mind:

1.  Log into your account online and goto your Voice Preferences.  Check to ensure the number of rings for the Comcast VM is set HIGHER than thee number of rings for your home AT&T model.

2.  In Voice Services, also look at Call Forwarding and ensure those callers who state they left a message are not being forwarded somewhere else.
