Telephone light on modem

Telephone light on modem

Tried hooking up my new Wireless Gateway modem.  No problem with internet or cable, but phones aren't working.  I've unplugged every phone, as well as the answering machine, and the phone circle isn't lit up on the modem.  I've tried unplugging and replugging all the wires in the back of the modem.  I've pushed the reset button.  The power, us/ds, online, and wifi are lit up, but the tel(ephone) is not.  Help!  Thank you for any help you can provide.

Re: Telephone light on modem

I'm having the exact same problem.  But, my home phone has not been working correctly for a while now.  I just went out and spent $81 on new phones thinking that may be the problem. Hooked them up last night and let them charge...Guess what..today they still aren't working.

Please see http://customer.xfinity.com/help-and-support/phone/troubleshooting-no-dial-tone/ and https://customer.xfinity.com/help-and-support/internet/power-cycling-your-modem. Also, try plugging a corded phone directly into the modem or gateway. If that works, the problem is in your home phones or wiring. If it doesn't, something's wrong with your Comcast service.

If you can't get it working contact them at the phone number on your bill or 1-800-Comcast, or chat with them at https://www.comcastsupport.com/chatentry/. If they can't fix the problem remotely insist that they send a tech out to identify the cause and correct it.

If the tech finds bad coax, splitters, amplifiers, or connections in your home (even if Comcast originally supplied them) you'll probably have to pay for the visit unless you have their Service Protection Plan (http://www.comcast.com/spp/, about $5/mo). If the trouble is due to a faulty Comcast phone modem or anything outside your home, you shouldn't be charged.

Be patient.... it can take from 24 to 72 hours before Phone Service is up and running on a new install...   that timeframe is also for any other services ( CallerID, Voicemail, etc )
