Telephone Modem question

I am currently "renting" a modem for use with my tripple play. If I buy the same one from EBAY can I just plug it in or will I need to call Comcast and have a tech come out to "install" it.

Re: Telephone Modem question

You will need to contact Comcast (preferebly your local service center) and ask if customer owned modems with voice service are allowed in the first place. Some parts of the country do not even allow it. After finding out if it is allowed, then you would treat it just like any other customer owned modem: hook it up and call comcast with the make/model/mac. They can activate it over the phone.

Re: Telephone Modem question

This one is newer and better. It offers twice as many multiple bonded downstream channel capability / twice as much potential bandwidth capacity;

Be sure to purchase brand new out of the box modems only !!
