Rented v. Purchased modem

Rented v. Purchased modem

I just added voice (phone) to my service and got a rented modem $7/mo.  I had owned my modem when I was using internet and cable TV.  Anyone have a good, fast modem to recommend to buy so I am not paying comcast $7 every month?

Hello,

If you are looking for a etma (phone and internet) modem you can see the following link to help you out.

You will have to make your own decision to either rent or purchase.

Re: Rented v. Purchased modem

There is only one eMTA telephony modem to use with CDV and it is hard or impossible to find.

Select Best Buy's with Comcast Connection Centers sell a Arris TM772G eMTA for $150.  Best Buy makes the sale and the Comcast agent on site adds the unit to your account and arranged installation.  Here is the list of Best Buy's that are supposed to still have Connection Centers, which is no longer 100% accurate as many have closed.  This is also not nationwide.

There are no other options other than this Comcast approved process.
