Ported number over, do I need to switch modems?

Ported number over, do I need to switch modems?

Recently I bought a cell phone and wanted to port my Comcast number over, and I was told that once it ported, that my phone service would be cancelled automatically, which it was. Do I need to swap the modem for an internet only one? It seems to be working fine. Or would it show up on my bill that I'm still using it. I'd appreciate any help. Thank you.

Comcast might want to swap you out to a cable modem, but since the two devices are the same price per month, I'd just let it be.  You can take it to the local office for a swap to a cable modem if you really want to.

 

You might just want to purchase your own cable modem and save the $7 a month, and once it's configured, take the eMTA to the local office, make sure you get a returned equipment receipt.

Thanks for the reply. I'm probably just going to keep it. But will I still be charged for the service, if I still have the modem? I'm pretty sure I won't but I'm not sure.

If you ported your # over then you won't be charged once the CDV is shut off, but monitor your statements for confirmation.
