Phone service

I can't say that my service crackles or echoes......I don't have any.  It comes and goes.  Mostly goes.  Stays off for days at a time.  You try to call us, you get a busy signal.  Thought it was fixed.  That lasted for two days.  No dial tone....Nothing.

Re: Phone service

Still have no phone service.  Everything else works.  One the modum,  the phone light flashes.  As I said, cable works, internet works.  No dial tone, nothing.

Re: Phone service

I had bad crackling and static over the weekend.   Today, it alternates between no dial tone, crackling and a busy signal.   Calls in either get a busy signal or go straight to voice mail (strangely, when I have a busy signal, it goes to voice mail; and when it's dead air or crackling, it's a busy signal to the incoming caller)

The tech said it was a wiring problem and they would have to send a technician.   Didn't have any problems until this weekend, though, so I doubt the wiring spontaneously stopped working on Saturday and Sunday.

Sorry that you are experiencing issues with your phone service as well.

Can you plug your phone directly into the back of your comcast modem and complete the following steps for me.

1. Verify that the modem itself is plugged into the wall and all the lights are on.

2 Check the connections and make sure that they are secure.

3. Can you hit the reset button on the back of the modem.

If you are still experiencing no phone service please let me know.

Re: Phone service

Thanks, I already did that and the phone is working. In the original resonse from central they assumed I had 2 phone linnes. I only have one with 3 phones. I had to disconnect my fax line in order to get it working, so now the third phone that was connected to the fax is not working. At least I have 2 phones that are working. Thanks again. Susan

Re: Phone service

I am glad to hear that your phone line is up and working.
Some helpful information to make sure that your comcast phone service and fax lines work properly is:
1. The fax machine has to be 14,400 Baud Rate (or 14.4 Kbps) only (this info can be located in your manual or you can contact your manufacture for this information.)
2. You must use a 2-Prong Phone Line only
3. The fax machine must be directly connected to the Line 1 port of the
modem, and then the wall jack (or phone) is connected to the fax machine in order for it to work.
*******It's always best to have a secondary line dedicated just for your fax machine in my opinion.
Please keep in mind that we don't support your fax machine but rather the dial tone connection.

If you require more assistance please let me know.
