During a recent power failure, I found that my phone would not work the first time that I tried to use it. This is the second time that this has happened. A Comcast Tech came and replaced the battery after the first failure. Since this power failure occurred while I was asleep, my phone was not used until I picked it up to call the power company. I was told that the battery would last for 4 hours of talk time. This was obviously a lie. If Comcast cannot fix this problem, I will have to switch back to Verizon.
You can order a fresh battery at this LINK, no charge. Fresh batteries will last around 8 hours if your on the phone or not.
Remember during a power outage, you must use a wired phone connected to your eMTA or inside phone wiring as cordless phones need their own power for the base and will not operate during a power outage.
The battery was replaced only a couple of months ago. The phone that I use during power outages is an old Princess phone. The original battery that came with the moden when it was installed only lasted less than an hour when power was disconnected. I think that there is just something wrong with the modem.
The Comcast Cares Team has been notified and will contact the local group.
