No sound for digital voice messages on the web???

No sound for digital voice messages on the web???

I just set up my account online with  the digital voice center and left myself a test message.

When I log into my account, the message is there with the phone # etc. But when I hit play - nothing. I can see the message playing and ending, but no sound.

Yes, I have the speakers on (in case you wondered) and I am using a Mac browser (Safari 3.0.4).

Any suggestions?

Thank you -

I think it uses Windows Media format. Do you have the Flip4Mac plug-in that allows QuickTime to play WM?

I presume you do, since otherwise I'd expect it to report that it can't play the file at all, I'm just grasping at straws. Make sure you it's up-to-date, there's a Check for Updates button in its System Preferences pane.

The voice messages are encoded in .wav format. QuickTime (recent versions) should be able to play it. Do you still have the problem?

If voice messages are recorded in .wav format why do we need Quicktime???

Re: No sound for digital voice messages on the web???

You need a player to play audio files. If you use PC, you can also use Window Media Player. This thread is about Mac. So QuickTime is needed to play .wav files. Flip4Mac is not required.
