No Dial Tone

No Dial Tone

No Dial Tone and resetting does not work. plugging main phone into modem works but Comcast won't send technician out to check outside line.  They will only send someone out if they are allowed to come in the home which will cost $50.  The problem is not internal.  We have lived in the house 25 years and have never had a problem.  Lots of lightning last night surely it is external.

If plugging a phone directly in to the modem works, how can it be an "outside" / Comcast problem ?

Gee, where do you think those lines go?  Easy to scout out the house then fix the line externally and chg $50 don't you think.

If a phone with a direct connection to the modem gets a dial tone, doesn't that mean that the coax cable from the outside which supplies the service is working ?

I have the same problem,comcast said they would send a tech to check our outside line at no charge.Let's see what happens?I'll post here for  any news.
