Modem for voice

I just took advantage of a promo that was offered when I called to find if I could lower my monthly rate if I dropped our landline. The rep gave me a deal that included landline and internet. I told her, and later a tech person, that I wanted to purchase my own modem and asked if this would be a problem since I need voice capability. They both assured me it was not. But I can't seem to find any retail modems that will work for voice. What gives?

Re: Modem for voice

Here is a very good current tech eMTA;

http://www.amazon.com/Arris-TM822G-Touchstone%C2%AE-Ultra-High-Telephony/dp/B00721TUNS

Be sure to purchase brand new modems in the original packaging from reputable retailers only !!

Here is a phone number for activating customer owned eMTA's;

Go to http://mydeviceinfo.comcast.net/ and look for telephoney modems that are DOCISS 3.0.
