Just got my Comcast Digital Phone

Just got my Comcast Digital Phone

Let me say, right up front that getting my phone service hooked up, was done very nicely, and John, was very good at what he did.
How ever, I am thinking that the people that are doing the work with the new modem, need more training. LOL I lost my internet. After a few call's they finally fixed it.
Now I am one happy camper.
My thanks to Johm tech # 69 for a good job well done.

Naddie, did you get Comcast Digital Phone or Comcast Digital Voice? They're not the same thing.

Re: Just got my Comcast Digital Phone

CDV is VOIP, it uses your Internet connection, and sends your phone calls as TCP/IP connections.

CDP uses your cable as a phone line. The phone calls are sent on a separate channel from the Internet, just as your TV signals are.

I think this one. So far I am pleased.A smasll glitch with the Voice mail, but we have an answering machine, sooooooooo not a problem. And they are working on it. New area, new problems.Smiley Wink

Re: Just got my Comcast Digital Phone

Naddie, you have CDV, not CDP.

And although CDV does use an eMTA (which includes a modem), it's important to note that the service does not use your connection to the Public Internet for transmitting your voice data.  Smiley Happy

To further clarify - We are no longer signing up CDP customers.  At some point, existing CDP customers will be migrated over to the CDV service.

Does this also mean that you do not have to share your bandwidth with your phone service? In other words, will talking on the phone have zero impact on d/l and u/l speeds?

Re: Just got my Comcast Digital Phone

Correct... there is separate bandwidth allocated for each service.
