I received a hand-me-down number & cannot set up voicemail

I received a hand-me-down number & cannot set up voicemail

I set up a new voice account & the number I received was someone else's. When I dial *99, it asks me to enter the former user's info, and I cannot set up my own voice mailbox. Please advise how to correct this.

The phone number portion, you will get someone eleses number.  Phone industry standards is to recycle phone numbers in order to ensure phone number availablity.  Usually after 6 or more months being deactivated they are put back into inventory.

 

As for the resetting of your voicemail, you will have to contact Comcast phone support, they can reset your password so that you can use that feature.
