Fax causes static on phone line and fails test

Fax causes static on phone line and fails test

I have a new HP OfficeJet 8600 networked all-in-one fax printer. This new machine was working successfully the otherday if one was not using the phone.  Now the fax is sending out an error message when FAX BACK function is used for testing.  I read in Comcast forum that a DSL filter is not required.  How can I set up the fax so that it can live in parallel with my tripple play voice service?  Thanks in advance.

Re: Fax causes static on phone line and fails test

The HP fax scanner must use a 2 wire phone cord, do not use a standard 4 wire phone cord.

If you don't have a cord with 2 prongs only, Radio Shack has them.  Check your phone cord, if there are more than 2 prongs in the center, try the 2 wire version.

You also might need to set the baud rate to 9600 for it to work on CDV properly.
