Drop the leading 1?

Drop the leading 1?

I just had a very strange Live Chat that ended with the CSR suggesting I drop the leading 1 from a toll-free number (888) that was giving me all circuits busy from a CDV line, but connected fine with a AT&T cell phone and a VZ landline.

The resolution?    Omit the leading 1 from the number.   (ie, dial 888-nxx-xxxx)   When I did so to humor the Live Chat rep, the call immediately completed.

Other test calls with leading 1 (both in state and out of state) completed successfully, but this one number still ACB'ed out with a leading 1, but connected without.

This just seems strange enough that a "oh great, that works, answer the survey" closure didn't seem right.  :-)

I'll be glad to provide the specific number to any Comcast folks who require it.

Re: Drop the leading 1?

I've never seen CDV work without dialing 11 digits.  Not dialing the "1" always gives a "I'm sorry this number can't be completed as dialed".

Your situation is odd for sure.
