Dial Tone, but can't receive calls

Dial Tone, but can't receive calls

I have confirmed the wall jack is ok by plugging in a normal land-line phone--I get dial tone.

I have the phone system correctly hooked up to the Comcast box.

I can get a dial tone on the phone system and can call out, but get a busy signal when my number is dialed.


Now, when I hook the land-line phone directly (this is not the phone system) to the cable box all I get is a hum.


Does the cable box require a different type of phone line other than a standard 4-wire? (red, black, yellow, green)


Hope this makes sense.
