Cripple Comcast Voicemail(message recording)

How do I cripple using Comcast Voicemail and use my own answering machine?  I want my phone calls to go to my answering machine and NOT Comcast Voicemail.

The end-user has no control over the VM feature, but you can ask Comcast to disable the feature in its entirety by calling 1-800-266-2278 or 1-800-934-6489 and speaking with a customer service representative.  You can then use your answering machine freely.

 

Additionally, if you were to set your Answering Machine to pick up on 4 rings, and set the Comcast VM to pick up on 6 rings, your Answering Machine would pick up before the call was transferred to the Comcast VM service.....
