Comcast voice help is ridiculous

Comcast voice help is ridiculous

Get this- I woke up one morning, and tried to call my wife. My phone didn't have a dial tone, only a busy signal. I looked around on the website, and found online help. I chatted with a customer service rep and he said they could not fix a phone problem, for that you had to CALL COMCAST! Sure, I'll call them about the problem with my phone as soon as my phone is fixed. What idiots!

Re: You can get online help for just about anything... except your phone

Hi  jdolciamore,

I apologize for the difficulties you’ve been having with your Comcast Digital Voice service.  We’d like to make sure that your problems get resolved.

I’m sending an email to your primary address on your Comcast High-Speed Internet account. Please respond and I’ll be able to assist you further.

In the meantime, you may be able to find a solution to your problem in our Digital Voice FAQs, or by calling 1-800-COMCAST (1-800-266-2278).

Thanks!

While on the surface this would seem like silly advice, the clear assumption here is that you will have access to a cell phone or work phone at some point.  There are certain types of troubleshooting that simply do not work in a chat environment.

What did you do back in the days before the Internet and your phone service went out?

If you don't have a cell phone, then surely you have neighbors with phones.
