Can't get a dialtone

Can't get a dialtone

I plugged a phone into the modern but can't get a dialtone. I reset the modem and the phone symbol is now flashing on the modem, does a flashing light mean there's a problem? It was an old phone and I'm not sure that it works. Can Xfinity run a test signal to my modem or phone to check if it's the phone? I have a feeling it is. There is no working line here at the house to test it.

Same thing is happening with me.  I know my phone works.  I can text, leave a message and retrieve but no dial tone.  Good Luck!

I'm having the same problem.  I'm on hold with Comcast, but it's a long hold. If anyone finds a solution, can you please post it?

 

 

Update: tech support could identify a problem with my modem. They tried to reset it and it failed. They are escalating my issue, but will not be able to resolve it tonight.  They will update me within 24 hours on the status of the repair.

Anyone else still having this problem?  The other day mine went nuts and started ringing non stop, then my entire modem reset itself when i answered the phone.  Now it says No line but i can call the number from another phone and it rings.  Once i answer it tho, it resets the modem!

If this "old" phone is a rotary device, it will not work on the VOIP....   WHat is the make/model of the phone?  A flashin TEL light indicates not active....   You should call into Comcast and register a trouble ticket for this issue.
