Caller ID Use Problem

Caller ID Use Problem

Two days this week, June 2 and today (June 5th), I received calls from a credit card company that the caller ID reflects my home phone number and not the caller's number. I advised their agent that it was illegal to do that and to take me off their call list. He said he would. Who do I contact if this problem continues. Not sure if anyone else is having this problem with credit card companies using your own home phone number showing up on caller ID. Thanks.

This is a common practice called "spoofing"....  using a computer program with the caller;s phonoe system to MASK their identity tio anything they want, be it a 000-000-0000 to even the number they are dialing ( your number )....

 

Your only defense at this time is to ensure you are on the DoNotCall registry, and to report the offenders...that is difficult to do when your own phone number is being reported as the number calling you though....
