Are you using a modem you own (emta) for voice?

Are you using a modem you own (emta) for voice?

I've been trying to get this emta provisioned for voice for the past two weeks.

(ARRIS TM722G).

I've had at least 10 support people at Comcast try and they keep getting an error.

They say they can't get it Activated (they are getting an error on their end).

 

What is the "trick" to getting this activated?

 

Every time my modem is rebooted I  see in the log of the cable modem:

 

12/29/2014 11:26 25 MTA PROV: Failed

 

and in the CM state I see:

Telephony-DHCP Completed
Telephony-TFTP In Progress
Telephony-Reg with Call Server Not Started
Telephony-Reg Complete Not Started

 

If you have a working ARRIS TM722G (or really, any modem you own) with xfinity voice could you please sign on to comcast.com and check something for me?

Click on My account, then My services.

Click on Xfinity voice tab.

 

On your TM722G what MAC address is listed?  Is the the CMAC, EMAC or MTA MAC?

(Compare the MAC listed on the web page to the sticker on your modem and tell me which of the 3 MAC addresses they have in their system CMAC, EMAC or MTA MAC).

 

I'm assuming it's the CMAC since that's the coax MAC and the only MAC that should matter for provisioning/activation but they can't get it working in more than 10 tries.

 

What's the trick to getting them to activate?

 

Internet works fine on this modem, BTW.

I just can't get voice activated.

 

I'm sure the issue isn't with the CMAC but...what trick do you need to do to get them to activate it?

 

update:

Yes I've called the activation number 855-652-3446

as well as 800 934-6489 (Tech support)

as well as...countless online chats with both Internet and Voice support.

Have you tried this phone number for activation.

It is the activation department.
