ANSWERING MACHINE

I HAVE NO HARD LINE TO CONNECT MY ANSWERING MACHINE.  SETUP REQUIRES IT NEXT TO COMPUTER.   I NEED IT IN ANOTHER ROOM.

You could connect the modem/gateway tel1 jack to the nearest phone jack, and it will backfeed to the other phone jacks in the house. Providing the phone wiring is in good order, you should have no problem.

 

Note, the phone wiring should be disconnected from the customer side of the phone company NID, usually a grey box on the side of the house.(it's easy enough to do). You can google it.

 

Apartments and security alarms could be a problem and I would advise you to hire a professional or call in and get Comcast to do it.
