Access SMC modem via browser

Have a new commercial connection using an SMC modem. The installer says I can get into the modems settings by using http://10.1.10.1 (gateway adress). Have tried many times to no avail. Called Comcast tech support and they couldn't figure it out either. The SMC user guide of course says to use the following address 192.168.0.1, which of course also doesn't work since Comcast has configured my modem for 10.1.10.100 IP address with the 10.1.10.1 gateway.

Any thoughts ?

Thanks.

Hi mwheaties,

The question is, why do you need to get into the Cable Modem's settings? Or is it a Router that you are talking about? Are you accessing the Internet through this connection, right now?Try this IP Address: http://192.168.2.1 or open a Command Window, Start > Run and type is cmd and hit Enter. Now type in ipconfig and hit enter. Use that IP Address instead of the above.
