Your XFINITY Home service includes Cellular Backup at no charge. If your Touchsscreen is unable to connect to the Internet through your Gateway or Security router during an outage, it will connect through the cellular connection.
This will keep the critical componets of your system running during the outage - i.e. if there is an alarm, the Central monitoring staiton will still be notified. Other home automation features as well as access to your cameras though will likely experience issues until the outage is resolved.
Happy to help, grapture007!
Yes, your Touchscreen also has a battery in case of a power outage. The battery will keep those same critical security features working until power is restored.
While the touchscreen is on battery backup, you'll see it go dark to conserve power - but if you tap the screen, it will light right back up! You'll also hear it beep periodically, and an error will be displayed on screen to notify you of the power loss.
Hi grapture007, the touch screen should not have to use the backup battery due to services issues. If the power went out in your area then the backup battery would be able to take over so your home would still be secure, even in that case the backup battery can last up to a month without needing replaced. It sounds like the power went out in your home and the touch screen picked up the error and notified you as it is designed to do, in this case an error will show up but as long as the power is restored the touch screen will not lose power or drain the backup battery.
