Gap between peices of Door Sensor?

I was curiuos if anyone has installed a door sensor a sliding glass door where the stationary part and the part that slide don't line up (i.e. the sliding part of the door is recessed about 1/2 inch from the stationary part it slides into). I have a door sensor that I'd like to put there but am concerned with the gap causing issues with the sensor thinking the door is open.

Thanks

Re: Gap between peices of Door Sensor?

Hello dgrizzanti, the magnet in the sensors are powerful enough for that kind of gap. However, the post from

test1234x is correct as well. I ended up doing the same thing for my door/window sensor and this is what I used.

Re: Gap between peices of Door Sensor?

My kitchen sliding glass door has that type of situation... and I have not had an issue. I suppose if you needed to, you could add and extra piece or two of double sticky 3M tape to the back of the sensor to bump it out far enough to make the right connection, but I didn't have to do that in my case.
