I too experienced the zimlet critical error and was unable to add attachments to amy of my emails.  Called comcast and they talked me through a very simple solution that solved the problem immediately.  Go to Control Panel, select Internet Options, select the Advance Tab, then select Reset button at the bottom to reset Internet Explorer.  Problem solved (at least for me).  Good luck!

Check my post of 6/25/2007 I have posted the solution to your problem.  You need to go to internet options, clear all temp files, cookies and history, then go to the advanced tab and reset your browser, this corrects your problem with emails

Froggy-did you restart your machine after the fix? I believe that you will continue to receive the error message until such a time that Xfinity becomes compatible with IE9.

nittany1968,

Nope didnt have to restart computer but i haven't had any problems since i did what i descibe from above I haven't had that error message showing back up.     Plus I have been running IE9 since it came out and just resently started getting that error message within the last 2 to 3 weeks  and I have been running IE9 with comcast for over a year ,   so I really don't think it is a compatible with IE 9 issue

This issue with the zimlet search error has been going on for a number of months already. I don't see how it could be related.

Have you tried:

Clearing your browser cache?

Resetting your browser back to the default settings?

Try another browser?

Comcast is aware of this issue, but no permanent fix yet.

There appears to be some conflict between IE add-ons and the zimlets.

For example the Add-on publisher "Amazing Apps / 215 Apps" Add-on Name "I Want This" will cause the error if the add-on is enabled.

I would recommend that you disable all add-ons in IE (Tools -> Manage Ad-ons, select each add-on and click disable), then RESTART IE to see if the error goes away.  If the error does go away then you can then do the following to determine which add-on is causing the problem.

1) enable one of the previously disabled add-ons (Tools -> Manage Ad-ons, select an add-on and click enable)

2) restart the browser

3) re-open the browser and goto comcast.net email to see if you get the error again

repeat steps 1-3 until you get the error again

once you get the error you will know that the last add-on enable was the one that caused the problem.

Please let us know if this helps.

Did you read the suggsestions made by Aorapal and did you try them?

Also try this:

Go to Control Panel, select Internet Options, select the Advance Tab, then select Reset button at the bottom to reset Internet Explorer.

I did do what Aeropal suggested and that didn't work; however, resetting explorer did the trick.  My attachment feature is now working and the error message is gone.  Thank you.

yes, I did reset the Advanced tab to default......three times, and nothing happened.  I am still not able to put attachments onto my email, and I am still receiving the Zimlet error every time I log onto and look at my email. The only thing I can think of is that I have a virus in my computer, because so many people are answering that resetting helped them.

H ave you tried a different browser to test?

If you are concerned that y,ou picked up a virus, did you run a full virus scan of your PC?

I too have contacted Comcast for the exact error.  They ran me through some "click this, click that", and after 15 minutes (of multiple pauses by the rep!), nothing was fixed.  Comcast says "I will call you back"........just like you out there,  NO PHONE CALL. Imagine that!  Comcast sucks, but unfortunately, there really isn't any other cable company to choose from (if you don't want satellite).  Well, at least I feel comfort in I have others out there to feel my "whoa's".  Thanks!

Baric, nice of you to take your time and try to help us out here.  To answer your question, "Yes, the zimlet error does pop up every time I check my email".  As a matter of fact, it asks you if you want a report.  When you click 'yes', nothing happens.  My email is fine, except I cannot add attachments of any kind.  When I click onto the 'attachment' tab, nothing happens.  I, too, have cleared, clicked, restarted, retried and did every single response I've seen on this whole topic, but yet, nothing has worked.  Maybe I should call Comcast back. . . . . I have nothing to do for the next hour or so!  LOL
