kathyraine, your @comcast.net is still valid even though you have closed your account and moved out of the Comcast footprint.  As long as you continue to access the account at least every nine months it will not be deleted.

 

Just as an aside, you might consider using an email client to download both your @gmail.com emails and @comcast.net emails so you would have access to both within one program.  Or, if you are using the gmail web interface you can import your @comcast.net to there.  You would need to follow the instructions in gmail under Settings [click on the gear], Accounts and Import, then Import Mail and Contacts.
