sending emails

When I try to send out a message on Comcast I get the message “Cannot send message using Comcast server. The sender address My address was rejected by the server smtp.comcast.net Server response was authentication is required” I can click the frontier address below to send out the message but then it is sent from frontier. How can I have the messages sent immediately from Comcast?

Are you trying to send using a desktop client like Outlook or Thunderbird?  If so, what settings are you using for the outgoing smtp server?

the smtp server is comcast.net

I don't know what a desktop client is...

When we changed from Frontier to Comcast, this problem started. My husband is not having the same problem on his laptop. We have Macs.

To further complcate the problem, I can send the emails out on Frontier but can't get responses to those emails since they go to a frontier address, not comcast.

Are you uisng the Mail app that comes  with OS X, or are you using only the Comcast webmail interface through Safari or some other browser?  When you are looking at your email, does the top menu bar on your screen look like this--------------------------------?
