I have had a comcast.net email address for many years. Now I am moving to an area that Comcast does not cover. The comcast support person said I could forward all emails addressed to my comcast.net account to a gmail account.  I was skeptical. After I am no longer paying comcast, will such forwarding be allowed?

The rep was wrong, as they all too often are. Once you close your Comcast account, maybe the same day, maybe weeks later, your email will become inaccessible and forwarding will no longer work. You'll need to move your mail and notify your contacts ahead of time. Some ISPs offer email-only service, but Comcast does not.
