outlook 2013 settings

Received the following error after re-configuring outlook 2013 with following: 

pop 995w/ssl

smtp 465w/ssl

server requires authentication

SPA off

Task 'xxx@comcast.net - Receiving' reported error (0x8004210A) : 'The operation timed out waiting for a response from the receiving (POP) server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'


Spent the morning trying to get outllok to send/receive email. Once I changed to the settings listed above, at least got mail out.


Would be good to get one answer on the forums that works.  Maybe even an article.  I did read an article and followed advice, but it did not work.  IMAP not POP and different server numbers

If you are using POP, the settings you listed are correct.

If using IMAP, the settings should be:

Port 993 for incoming with SSL on

Port 465 for outgoing (smtp) with SSL on

Authentication checked


Which browser/version are you using?  IF IT IS Internet Explorer Ver. 10 or 11, make sure you have Compatibility View enabled under Tools.

Do you use an email client? Which one? (Eg; Windows Live mail, Outlook, a smartphone etc.)
Which browser/version do you use? And- have you cleared your browser cache?
Which operating system? XP, Vista, Windows 7, Mac OS X
