outgoing mail server

outgoing mail server

My outgoing mail on my macbook has stopped working. I didn't make any changes, but keep getting this--

"rejected by the server smtp.comcast.net.

The server response was: Authentication required

Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be sent."

 

Have tried authenticating several times with no result. Any ideas, anyone? Also tried switching outgoing port from 465 to 587,still nada.

Are you still having the same issue?  If so, try deleting the account from Mac Mail and then recreate it from scratch.  I'm assuming you are using Mac Mail.
