inbox folders inaccessible from outlook email client

inbox folders inaccessible from outlook email client

I have a mac running El Capitain. When i configure for comcast email it takes about one second and shows me everything, including my inbox folders which i use for organizing important messages. On my Windows 7 PC, running MS Outlook 2010, after spending ten minutes configuring, it only shows the inbox and none of the folders. Why? Can outlook be configured to show my comcast inbox, with the inbox folders?

is there a better, more compatible Windows client?

On the Windows machine, do you have Outlook set up using POP3 or IMAP for the Comcast account?

I'm using IMAP. I configured using directions from this link - http://customer.xfinity.com/help-and-support/internet/setting-up-outlook-2010/.

In Outlook, do you have an arrow or dot or anything next to the Inbox?  If so click on it to see if the folders appear.  I'm not familiar with Outlook.  I use Mac Mail too.  But what you described would be typical if Outlook had been configured using POP3.

I also have Windows 10 and MS Office 2013 running on my mac. i just finished configuring outlook 2013, using the same directions as before, and it shows everything. All of the folders off of my inbox are available and accessible.
