ie11 will not set as default in Outlook 7 after windows 10 update

After installing windows 10, now any link I receive in my Outlook mail, when I click it it asks for me to decide between ie, chrome, and the new browser Edge.  I'm old school and wish to continue using IE, but I click the little box to make it my default app, and next email with a link, the setting did not stick.  I've researched a ton on the web, and everywhere says : go in under default apps, select, blah blah, blah.  Everything I've done does not seem to stick.  However, If I select Chrome, or Edge, and select the 'make default' box, it sticks for future uses.  I like IE, can anyone offer suggestions I can try to make it my Default app to launch links from Outlook 7.  Many thanks

This would be something to bring up to Microsoft since you're dealing with their products.  Keep in mind, they're pushing Edge and phasing out IE.
