how to receive notification of new email

I am wondering how you know when you have received a new email without having to check your inbox? Does comcast have this feature?  Thanks

Re: how to receive notification of new email

The old email format has it, but it only works if you have the right software on your computer.  It's also not very reliable.  The new format does not have any sound alerts.  You would need to enable the account in a desktop client like Thunderbird or Outlook.  I think they have that ability.

So other than physically checking there's no notification like before?  No blinking of the tab when new email arrives?  Nothing?

I thought you were talking about an audible alert.  When you are on the Xfinity homepage, if you have unread messages waiting, there should be a red dot with a number in it where the little envelope icon is in the upper right corner.  Is that what you mean?  It looks like this-----------------
