IMO------not very safe.  You have not said what other website you are talking about.  But I would not save a password anywhere except in my password manager (I use "Lastpass").  I would certainly not use the password manager that is in a browser.  They are just not that secure.

They don't actually store the password  They store a cookie that says, in essence, "this user signed in with a valid ID and password and should remain logged in until (date and time)".

 

Selecting "leave me signed in" doesn't affect password security one way or the other.
