Is there a way I can tell if an email I sent has been opened by the recipient?  Any help would be appreciated

Not if you use Xfinity Connect for email.  Most other email programs do have that option tho.  Know too, even if a request is sent, it is still always up to the recepient if they want one sent.  Many people chose to ignore the request.

Do you use XfinityConnect? The Full or Lite version?
Do you use an email client? Which one? (Eg; Windows Live mail, Outlook, a smartphone etc.)
Which browser/version do you use? And- have you cleared your browser cache?
Which operating system? XP, Vista, Windows 7, Mac OS X
