I have spam showing up in my  active email that I cannot unsubscribe.

If it's spam, never click on the unsubscribe link.  That is a surefire way to guarantee you'll get more of the same.  When junk gets to the Inbox, just keep marking it as Spam and it will slowly "train" the filters.  You should find these of interest--------------------
