email problems

Is there a security breach again on Comcast? About a month ago,My email was revoked and no one will tell me why. I cannot receive or send emails. Also, I cannot get my voicemails and the Internet is at a snail's

pace .  Is anyone having the same problems?

Re: email problems

What do you mean by "revoked"?  Exactly what happens when you try to access your email?  Are you able to sign into the account and get as far as the Inbox or what?

Re: email problems

A month has passed. Every day I have to call Comcast to change my password. They work with me to change the password. Works for a few hours, then I get message that password or user name is incorrect. I am at my wit's end. I just finally had to quit using that email address, but I am missing many emails that were sent to me.

Re: email problems

You need to provide better information.  How are you trying to access the email?  Are you using only the webmail UI through a browser, or on a smartphone or tablet or what?  Are you getting as far as the Inbox?

Re: email problems

Excuse me for not being clear. Frustrated.

i cannot use my Comcast email on my computer, IPAD, or IPhone. I get the error message that states that my username and password are incorrect . Also, Comcast had me to install the Xfinity app, and it worked for a few hours. Then, I could not open the app. I deleted the app. Then, re installed it. I I received the same error. I also tried to use my username and password on xfinity.com and get the same message. Here again, Comcast assisted me by having me change my password and it was just a few hours before I could not use my Comcast email.

Re: email problems

A couple of questions------is the desktop a Mac?  In OS X and iOS you have to change the password in two places.  Did you do that?  If not, post back for instructions.

Re: email problems

I went into Mail and changed the password.

Re: email problems

OK so it is a Mac then?  Like I said--------the password has to be changed in two places-------once for the incoming server, and again for the smtp outgoing server.  Did you do that on all three devices?  If you didn't, they will generate the password/username error message.  If you need instruction post back, but first let's establish whether you did or not.  The navigation for OS X and iOS is different to get to the smtp server.

Re: email problems

I did not change the password at both places.

Re: email problems

In iOS on the phone and the tablet-----------

go to "Settings" on the home screen, then scroll down to" Mail, Contacts, Calendars", click on the account, and then on the next screen tap the "account" again. Scroll down to "SMTP" and tap that. Then tap "smtp.comcast.net". On the next screen you will see the password. Change it and then tap "Done" in the upper right hand corner of the screen.

In OS X on the Mac--------------(I'm using Mail 8.2 in Yosemite)

Open Mail.app.

Go to Mail > Preferences

Click Accounts > Account Information

Under Account Information look for Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP).

Click on the drop down arrow and select Edit Server List...

Select the existing SMTP server for your domain.

Click Advanced

From the Authentication drop down, select Password

Fill in your Username (e.g. john@example.com) and Password

Click the Test Account Settings button to set the new settings.

Click OK and then close the preferences window.

Click Next then Finish.

Save the changes, and try sending mail again

This is most likely why you are getting that error message.
