email lost in empty trash

My e-mail all disappeared intomy trash can and then somehow the trash can was emptied. I would like to retrieve part of it. Is it possible? It happened yesterday, 5/24/17. Please help.

Your email vanished from where---the Inbox, or a local folder or what?  Are you still on the old email format or the new one?

It disappeared from my inbox and is now gone. I assume it went to my trash bin which I routinely empty. I am using the new system on my laptop and in Chrome on my iPad. I was working on my laptop using Chrome at the time it happened.

As a precaution I would change your password to something stronger than whatever it is right now, and also change your secret question and answer. Suddenly vanishing emails is a common sign of a malware infection, or a compromised account. Run a complete scan of your machine with your A/V software to see if it finds anything wrong. There are no editable deletion schedules in the new format, so it's not that.

You could also call Comcast security and have them look at your account---------------

Ok, I did everything but call Comcast and none of that worked. I have no viruses or malware, so that is not it. I can't contact Comcast until morning, so do you have any other ideas in the meantime?
