I created a group of contacts from my contacts. I want to send an email to the group, but i can't see a way to add the group to the "TO" box, and the group does not come up when i start typing it in the box.

Click right on the "To:" button.  Then see if you can add the group to the field from the address book that pops up.  Then send a test email to the group.  After you have done that, see if it remembers it the next time you start typing the name of the group.
