comcast wont't let me set up POP account on iPhone

Comcast or Apple won't let me set up a POP account on my iphone 6.  Any work arounds?

With the help of an online search, a person with the same problem and Apple Support, who used the same idea, success.  You need to put in a false e-mail address in the e-mail set up with correct password and Comcast will let you install POP.  After the install, you put in the correct e-mail address and POP is installed and ready to go.  Within two seconds, about 86 e-mails were downloaded, through POP, onto my iphone. Why, I do not know, but it works.  For those who share the same e-mails in the family, and the same, and different computers, POP is a better way. I think.

Some people dislike having to delete messages on multiple devices as you must for POP. But as you note, there are very reasonable reasons to do that. You should probably go to the web-based email every so often and clean up the messages no one needs.

 

Again: The way to set up POP access to a Comcast account on an iPhone is to enter an incorrect email address (for example, NotMyEmail@comcast.net and xxxxx as the password). That will fail (until somebody chooses that as their account name). Then you will have the option to set up teh account as POP instead of IMAP.
