cannot stream HD video: Move-media-player won't install

Hi, we just upgraded our Comcast, and are trying to stream some video from the comcast/xfinity web site.  This all works well for normal quality video, but when we try to do this for HD video (and some video is only available in this format), I am told to "Upgrade my Xfinity Player".   To do this involves trying to install Move-media-player, but this fails, with error 256.    I've tried  both Safari in 32-bit mode and Firefox, but both produce the same problem.   Google tells me this is a problem some people have had with Macs and move-media-player, but I have been unable to find a solution.   It seems to be a permissions issue, but I don't really know where to go from here.

For what it's worth, I am using OS 10.6, and have Silverlight and Flash installed.   I've been in touch with 4 comcast chat support people, but they are not able to help.
