adding contacts to a new email group

I created a new email group.  How do I add contacts?

Re: adding contacts to a new email group

If you are still in the old email format, check the box next to a contact in the list, then on "Add to group" in the toolbar above it.  If you are in the new format, try to drag and drop the contact from the list to the group folder.

Re: adding contacts to a new email group

Let me clarify.  I created a new group and want to manually type/insert email addresses WITHOUT adding them to my address book.  This will be a temporary group. and I do not want to delete them from my address book.

AFAIK, there is no way to do what you are describing.  A contact has to be in the address book to be added to a group.
