Zimbra web client is broken

Frequent Visitor

Zimbra web client is broken

I have tried multiple browsers, multiple times, to access my email messages in the last two days.

I can see the message titles, but clicking on them produces no action - I cannot read the actual messages, nor can I compose new mail messages.

Finally, I opened Firebug to see if the Zimbra interface was throwing any errors. It is:

ZmComposeController is not defined

The line of code that is throwing this error is:

net_comcast_sms.ComposeController.prototype=net_comcast_sms.Util.getObjectProxy(ZmComposeController.prototype);

I am hoping that Comcast will open a ticket internally and fix this issue once and for all - this happens at least once a month, if not more often. My mail - and therefore my productivity - is being held hostage by this defect.

Re: Zimbra web client is broken

Hi ComcastAnthony,

I tried again, same result:

ReferenceError: ZmComposeController is not defined http://web.mail.comcast.net/zimbra/mail?app=mail Line 8229

I tried clearing my cookies a couple of times, and I still get this same result.

Thanks for looking in to this.

Yes - clearing the browser cache has no effect. The problem looks as though it is with the Zimbra Javascript that is being executed when opening a message.

Try this as a work around while you wait on the issue to get resolved.

It's very bare bones but at least you may be able to read your mail.

Are you able to try on a different computer?  Can you disable all browser plug-ins and ad-ons and try again?

Re: Zimbra web client is broken

In the last week Comcast has not worked well when accessing by Internet Explore and hit and miss by goggle chrome. The only one it seems to be working on all computers for me is Firefox. Which I do not like using.

The emails wont open or you cannot read them. Then the left part of the screen is stuck in loading which is I think the hangup that it wont all load. I have tried everything from cookies, settings and am totally frustrated.

Help fix this please as I have spoken to many that are frustrated. I have no problem with other email accounts only comcast.

This works great, thx

I would just get the Spinning blue circle.

If I did get into my email it was just like they were saying above.

Extremely slow loading times (new messages, replies, and SEND) under IE11, full version of webmail. Sometimes the whole thing crashes and IE closes and reopens the tab. This started around 8am today.

In IE-11, make sure you have Compatibility view enabled for Comcast.net  You will find it under "Tools".

It's been on. Things seem a bit better this morning.

Re: Zimbra web client is broken

Have you been able to figure this one out yet?

Seems they keep telling us it's our browser, but I'm seeing it on all browsers here in these forums.

I also use FF, my entire cache is emtpied every time I close the browser.

I very much dislike IE(never use it) full version will load with glitches on it and refuse to download Chrome just for comcast.

Re: Zimbra web client is broken

I cannot get Zimbra to load in any web browser. It is clear that Zimbra is a really flaky mail client.

The mobile URL listed above is very bare bones - but looks great on my Android phone. Go figure.

Re: Zimbra web client is broken

Also, running Firebug is always a gas when trying to load the Zimbra client. The client won't load, and I see this in the console window:

Re: Zimbra web client is broken

I have not been able to access my e-mails remotely also.  Same problem.  Is this going to be fixed by comcast.????

Re: Zimbra web client is broken

Hey guys.. I fixed mine. It was an add-on extension called 'Turn Off The Lights'

Please check your Add-ons, disable all extensions (only had 4 not including the firebug tech support had me install)

This goes across all browsers

Disable ALL add-on Extensions AND clear cache/history/cookies

RESTART (very important) your browser, sign in to Comcast and try your email

If your full version email now works, then you know it is an add-on.

Enable one Add-on Extension at a time (also very important)

Then log in and re-try email.

RESTART your browser after each add-on enabled. Also very important is to clear cache and cookies before each restart of your browser (other wise you will not know if it is the add-on or a temp file associated with the add-on)

If you get to an add-on and email stops working, disable that add-on and restart, then continue down the list to see if any other add-on extensions also cause it.

be sure and try them all one at a time (sometimes add-ons update and then start to cause problems)

Hope this helps!

Re: Zimbra web client is broken

I am having the same issue as sendai77 (first message in this subject) with the new version of Zimbra.  I can read the heading but can not read the email message in Ajax.  When I switch preferences to HTML, i can read the email without any trouble, but I also lose some of the functionality of Ajax.  Does anyone have suggestions for a fix?
