Windows Live Mail downloaded 4047 mail

I wake up to this unacceptable mail program. I have used WLM for years. Why in the heck did it download all these emails since Dec. 2nd?

How can I have Comcast delete emails as soon as I delete them in WLM?

Thank you,

Julie

You need to enable the account in your Windows Live Mail client using IMAP.  That way everything should be synced so that when you delete an email on one device it's deleted on any others you have the account enabled on.  That said, you need to drop WLM because Microsoft no longer supports it.  I would recommend Mozilla Thunderbird.

In WLM, are you currently using POP3 in your settings?  There are two protocols you can use in a desktop client-----POP3 and IMAP.  IMAP syncs everything so that when you delete a message, it will be deleted both in the client and on the server.  POP3 won't do that.  You can find the settings for IMAP here-------------------

Windows Live Mail should auto-configure it for you using IMAP as explained here---------------

Thank you.

Why all of a sudden this changed is my question.
