Windows 8.1 mail setup

Windows 8.1 mail setup

I've used the settings indicated on this site to setup up my comcast mail account but keep getting the message:

"We still can't find your settings for xxxx@comcast.net.  Providing this additional information may help.  If you don't know this information, search online or check with your provider."

 

Here's what I've used:

E-mail address - xxxx@comcast.net

Username - xxxx

Password - xxxxxxxx

Incoming e-mail server - imap.comcast.net  Port 993

Incoming server requires SSL = checked

Outgoing e-mail server - smtp.comcast.net Port 587

Outgoing server requires SSL = checked (also tried unchecked as this is not clear in the instructions)

Outgoing server requires authentication = checked

User the same username and password to send and receive e-mail. = checked

 

I am at work so is it possible this a firewall issue?

Perhaps. The owner of the internet connection has the right to do whatever they want with it, including blocking services.

If indeed the firewall is the problem, can you access the email by just using a browser and going straight to the webmail?
