Why can't I send from my comcast email account?

Why can't I send from my comcast email account?

  • Did Comcast change my email from IMAP to POP with this last update?  Apple support says my email should be IMAP.
  • I am unable to send from my comcast.net email account. Without asking my email is being sent by my gmail account.
  • Also, my incoming email is slow coming in or is being sent to my Gmail account or to junk. I have rules set up to handle this but they are not working.

 

 

My email program is Apple Mail.

I also have my Gmail account on my desktop.

I have a late 2013 iMac running High Sierra.

No, Comcast did not change your client settings.  They would have no way to do that.  Those settings are under your control.  Comcast recommends that you use IMAP as their email is IMAP compliant by default.  But they do still support POP3 if you choose to use it.

 

When you are in the Compose window in Mac Mail, look at the "From:" field.  Does it show your Gmail address?  If so, click the down-arrow to the right and select the Comcast account.
